Identification delayed for body found in barrel
Friday, September 03, 2010

The Indiana County coroner today said he can not yet announce the identity of a body found in a barrel this week.

Coroner Michael Baker said in a press release that specimens must be collected for comparison and the process may require DNA tests, which could add several weeks.

Mr. Baker had hoped to be able to announce the identity today.

The barrel was discovered as part of an investigation into a series of thefts. It was located in the Conemaugh River in Burrell, near Blairsville.

A cause of death has not been announced.
