Penn Hills schools: Labor dispute goes to fact-finding
Thursday, March 04, 2010

Penn Hills teachers and the school board have agreed to submit all remaining contract issues to fact-finding, according to a joint news release issued today.

The release stated that the decision was made after both sides exchanged proposals prior to Wednesday's negotiating session. The Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board will review the request March 16.

Under fact-finding, a neutral party reviews the positions of both sides, conducts hearings and issues non-binding recommendations. The fact-finder's report is to be completed within 40 days of appointment. Each side then votes on the recommendations after which the recommendations are made public.

Teachers went on strike for four days in February.
