Fire destroys Homestead apartment building
Tuesday, December 02, 2008

Firefighters are investigating the cause of a blaze that consumed a Homestead apartment building last night.

Police said two men were forced to leave the three-story building, in the 100 block of West 10th Avenue, but no one was hurt. Just two units of the building, which has at least six apartments, were occupied.

Police said the fire likely started in the kitchen of a second floor apartment that was vacant.

The flames spread to a neighboring home, police said, forcing a woman and two children to leave.

Firefighters said the blaze was under control about 9:15 p.m.
