Pitt's LeSean McCoy and Scott McKillop were named Big East offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, the conference announced today.
McCoy ran for a career-high 183 yards and scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns, including the game-winner with 52 seconds left, in Pitt's 19-15 defeat of West Virginia Friday at Heinz Field in the 101st Backyard Brawl.
McKillop registered a team-high 17 tackles in leading a Pitt defense that put the clamps on a West Virginia offense that rushed for nearly 75 yards fewer than its average and scored its fewest points in eight games, a stretch where the Mountaineers averaged nearly twice as many points, at 27 per game.
Pitt plays at Connecticut at noon Saturday on ESPN. Pitt punter Dave Brytus and West Virginia punter-kicker Pat McAfee also were named honorable mention for their special-teams work.
