Man must stand trial in North Side killing
Saturday, November 22, 2008

A North Side man yesterday waived his right to a hearing on charges that he robbed and killed a store owner on Nov. 8 in Marshall-Shadeland.

Darnell Dixon, 22, reportedly was wounded when the victim, Michael Ross III, resisted the robbery. The two men, both armed with pistols, scuffled and gunfire ensued as Mr. Dixon's nephew, Edward Dixon, 19, fled and waited in a getaway vehicle, according to investigators.

Edward Dixon last week was ordered to stand trial on charges that include homicide and robbery.

Darnell Dixon suffered at least two bullet wounds. He is being held in the infirmary at the Allegheny County Jail.

Mr. Ross, owner of CM&M Fashion, died at the scene.
