The bank inside a Hazelwood pharmacy was robbed yesterday afternoon.
A man entered the Rite Aid drug store on Second Avenue at 12:32 p.m. and requested a deposit slip from a teller at the National City Bank branch inside the store, police said. The man scrawled a note advising the clerk to stay calm, then wrote a demand for money in denominations of $100, $50 and $20.
The robber did not show a weapon. He was biracial, with a finely trimmed mustache and goatee, and wore a black hooded sweatshirt under a black, waist-length coat, Sgt. Lavonnie Bickerstaff said.
Anyone with information about the holdup is asked to call the Police Bureau's robbery squad at 412-323-7151.
