Brentwood

The school board and council met last week to discuss issues of joint concern, including borough construction projects and tax collection. No votes were taken.

• School board member Donna Werner urged council to continue to support the Brentwood Park initiative, a committee organized to facilitate the renovation of the borough park and stadium.

• Council announced that borough police Officer Milt Mulholland is completing his DARE training and will set up his schedule soon to visit district students to promote the program's anti-drug message.

• Councilwoman Dawn Synborski asked about security at high school football games, suggesting that borough and district police officers share the responsibility. She said there has been confusion over who is responsible for addressing students who violate stadium rules.

• Councilman Mario Richards raised concerns about the lack of a full-time nurse in the elementary schools. Because of the prevalence of food allergies, he said, a medical person should be available the entire school day. School board members said they would look into the issue.
