Heart-healing fundraiser

Balanced Heart Healing Center will have a Fundraiser Fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday to raise money that will help launch its first official office space. The fair will be held on the grounds of Pinewood Place, 30 Warrendale-Bayne Road, Marshall.

Balanced Heart Healing Center is a nonprofit organization of holistic health care practitioners from the Pittsburgh area who are donating a portion of their private practice to provide health care services to all people regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay. Insurance, when available and applicable, will be accepted.

The Fundraiser Fair will include the live music of Life in Balance and other local musicians, Glitter Dot The Clown, face painting, balloon shaping, food vendors, product vendors, a Balanced Heart Healing Center information booth, moonwalk, Marshall Township Volunteer Fire Department vehicles, crafts, a community yard sale, raffles and silent auctions.

Tickets are $10 for those 19 and older, $5 for ages 13 through 18, and free for children 12 and younger.

Tickets can be purchased, donations may be given, and vendors may apply online at www.balancedheart.org, or call Kathy Evans-Palmisano at 412-298-2016 for more information.

Hay to you, too

One of Allegheny County's longest-running free events returns to Hartwood Park in Hampton and Indiana Township. The annual Hay Day celebration will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Families can take part in an array of activities, including hay rides, pony rides, face painting, live music, moon walks, strolling artists and arts and crafts. This year, Hay Day also includes a mini hay maze and petting zoo.

You'll find all the Hay Day action at Hartwood's Middle Road Performance Area. It's a rain or shine event.

Focus on fright

While folks can celebrate the fall season at Hartwood Park, Halloween will be the focus of the Woodland Foundation's accessible haunted trail that will be open from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday during the foundation's Halloween Fright Fest at its campus in Bradford Woods.

The trail features a quarter-mile loop through the woods on a specially graded trail that accommodates wheelchairs and walkers. Participants are led by trained guides and can choose the "scariness" level for their trek. About 15 members of the Cranberry Women's Club will be helping out this year.

For information, call the Woodlands at 724-935-6533 or go to www.woodlandsfoundation.org.

Going for the title

Seneca Valley and Butler Area will meet tonight at 7:30 at the Golden Tornado's Art Bernardi Stadium with the Section 2-AAA championship on the line in boys' soccer. Seneca's Kevin Andreone, above, and his teammates hope to continue their strong stretch run, having won five of their past six matches.
