A body discovered last night near McBride Park in West Mifflin has been identified as a 57-year-old Munhall woman who was reported missing more than a week ago.
The Allegheny County medical examiner's office said the body was believed to be that of Mary Anne Kacin, of Botsford Street. She had been reported missing after not showing up for work at a 7-Eleven store in Oakland.
Around 6:15 p.m. last night, police responded to reports of a body found hanging in the woods near McBride Park at the border of the city's Lincoln Place neighborhood.
County homicide detectives and Munhall police were called to the scene to investigate, but they had not determined the manner of death, including whether her death was a suicide or a homicide.
Earlier this week, up to 70 volunteers searched abandoned buildings and wooded areas in Munhall looking for Ms. Kacin, who did not drive.
Shortly after she was reported missing, police found her cell phone, her bank card and prescription medications for a thyroid condition and high blood pressure at her home.
Munhall Police Chief Patrick Campbell said there was no indication of foul play at her home.
