The district is expanding homecoming festivities this year to celebrate its 50th anniversary and the 250th anniversary of Pittsburgh in a three-day event Thursday through Saturday.
Students will build floats and participate in Spirit Week in the school buildings.
This year, Pine-Richland's football team moves from Class AAA to Quad A in the WPIAL. The varsity team will take to the field against North Allegheny at 7:05 p.m. Thursday, in a game to be televised on Fox Sports Network as the game of the week.
The homecoming queen will be crowned at halftime.
On Friday, the homecoming parade on Warrendale Road will begin at 6 p.m.
Immediately following the parade, the district will host a "Concert on the Gridiron" in the stadium. Four bands with Pine-Richland roots will perform.
Fireworks will close the evening.
The 2008 Homecoming Dance will be held Saturday for students in grades nine through 12 at Pine-Richland High School.
