Thursday, July 24, 2008

CHICAGO -- Penn State was shut out in the Big Ten Conference's preseason honors today.

Media members selected Ohio State as the favorite to win the conference championship. They also tabbed Buckeyes running back Chris "Beanie" Wells as the offensive player of the year and middle linebacker James Laurinaitis as the top defender.

Wisconsin was projected to finish second in the league, with Illinois third. The Big Ten only announces the top three teams in its preseason poll.
