Woman killed in Hempfield crash; 3 relatives injured

A woman was killed in a crash in which three members of her family were injured Tuesdady night when their vehicle drove off an overpass in Hempfield, Westmoreland County, dispatchers said.

Jeannine M. Palandro, 41, of Murrysville, had been a passenger in a vehicle that crashed at 10:13 p.m. at Toll Route 66 and Route 130. The vehicle traveled off the berm, along the embankment and over a bridge guide rail, landing on Route 130 below, the Westmoreland County coroner said.

Mrs. Palandro was not wearing a seat belt. She was thrown from the vehicle when it became airborne, and she was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:25 p.m.

Three other occupants in the vehicle, including two children, were flown to area hospitals. The extent of their injuries was not known yesterday.

State police are investigating.
