A baby who was cut from his mother's womb and taken to West Penn Hospital last week has been released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The baby was released yesterday, but there was no information on who he was released to.
On Friday, Wilkinsburg police found the baby boy's mother, Kia Johnson, 18, dead in the apartment of Andrea Curry-Demus, 38, who is accused of killing Ms. Johnson and taking the baby to West Penn, falsely claiming it was hers.
The baby had apparently been cut from Ms. Johnson's uterus and her face was wrapped in plastic, her wrists and ankles bound with duct tape.
Ms. Johnson's relatives declined to comment yesterday about the baby's health or its whereabouts. Relatives plan to name the boy Terrell Kian Johnson in honor of his mother.
