ART

Monroeville -- The Monroeville Arts Council will hold its annual summer arts show from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Boyce Campus of the Community College of Allegheny County, 595 Beatty Road. Call 412-373-0277.

CHURCH ACTIVITIES

Rankin -- The youth and young adult ministries of Triedstone Baptist Church, 18 Harriett St., will hold "Striving to be Christ Like," a program of pantomime, dance and music, at 5 p.m. Saturday. Call 412-271-3000.

Turtle Creek -- McMasters United Methodist Church, 200 Church St., will hold a flea market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 2. Tables cost $5 apiece. To reserve, or for more information, call 412-823-1988 between 9 a.m. and noon.

CONCERTS

Ligonier Borough -- The Valley Players of Ligonier will sponsor a concert, "Remembering Harry Chapin," a tribute to the late singer-songwriter, at 7 p.m. Saturday at Ligonier Theater, 210 W. Main St., in conjunction with the arts and crafts show this weekend. The cost is $12. Call 724-238-6514.

Plum -- The Presbyterian Church of Plum Creek, 550 Center New Texas Road, will sponsor a performance by the praise team of Bethesda Presbyterian Church in Homewood from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday as part of the church's Praise at the Pavilion outdoor concert series. FUND-RAISING

North Huntingdon -- The Stewartsville Lions Club will sell chicken barbecue dinners from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Holiday Travel, 12239 Lincoln Highway. The cost is $6, and orders are takeout only. Call 412-751-4308.

LIBRARIES

• "Creepy Crawly Science," program on bugs, 1 p.m. tomorrow. Sponsored by Carnegie Science Center. Call for reservations.

• Book sale, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Cost: $5 per bag. Held in conjunction with the borough's sidewalk sale.

OPEN HOUSE

Edgewood -- The borough will hold an open house from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at its municipal building, 2 Race St. Included will be demonstrations by police and fire personnel; a visit from John Lege, "That Guy with the Birds," and his trained parrots; children's activities and more. RECREATION

Derry Township -- The state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources will sponsor the following nature programs at the James A. Kell Visitor Center in Keystone State Park, 1150 Keystone Park Road. Preregistration is required for all children's programs. Call 724-668-2566.

• "Worms Eat My Garbage!" -- a program on composting for youth ages 9 through 13 -- 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. tomorrow.

• "Creepy Crawlers," program on insects, for children ages 6 through 8, from 2 to 3 p.m. next Thursday.

Ligonier Borough -- The Merchants Committee of the Ligonier Valley Chamber of Commerce will sponsor an arts and craft show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow and Saturday on the Diamond, Main Street and Route 711. North Huntingdon -- The township will show "Shrek the Third" at dusk tomorrow in Penns Woods Park, off Colonial Manor Road, as part of its Movies in the Park series. Call 724-863-3806, ext. 124.

Plum -- The Logans Ferry Sportsmen's Club, 210 Field Club Road, will host a youth field day from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 2. Offered will be archery, rifle, shotgun and shooting course. Preregistration is required. Call 724-339-5550.

WORKSHOPS

Greensburg -- The Academy of Music of the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra will hold a summer string workshop from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 11 through 15 at Seton Hill University.
